Moment
Two aparthotels of calm, well-made apartments: one in Edinburgh's Old Town with the castle in the window, one in the centre of Glasgow.
Two aparthotels from one Scottish company: one on George IV Bridge in Edinburgh's Old Town, one on Blythswood Street in the centre of Glasgow.
Moment's apartments are made for a few days in the city: a kitchen of your own and a calm room to come back to. George IV Bridge, the first, has six studios and a two-bedroom apartment in a restored building two minutes from Victoria Street, and from the Castle View studios the castle fills the window. Blythswood Street has one-bedroom apartments with a washer and dryer, ten minutes' walk from Glasgow Central. Neither has a front desk: a digital Guest Pass lets you in, and the team answers by phone, WhatsApp, text or email at any hour. Each has a Marshall speaker, Laura Thomas Co toiletries and blackout curtains, and Moment will stock a breakfast pantry or send a private chef if you ask ahead.
Every stay is an opportunity to slow down, reconnect, and savour the beauty of the present.
One in each city, under an hour apart by train.
Moment arranges these for its guests.
Ask when you book, or before you arrive.
In EdinburghA night with the castleA Castle View suite for the night, a table for two at the window and a private chef cooking supper in front of you, with drinks of your choice.
In EdinburghThe page turnerThree books chosen for you, a cosy night in, a bookmark by an Edinburgh artist, a map of the city's reading nooks and a late check-out to finish the chapter.- Private dining
- A chef plans the menu with you before you arrive, from breakfast to a long dinner, then cooks and serves it in the apartment and clears up after.
- Speciality coffee
- An hour's tasting with a speciality coffee roaster, five minutes' walk from George IV Bridge: as much coffee as you like, and a bag to take home.
- Your own whisky
- Ninety minutes at a single malt distillery on the Clyde in Glasgow: a drink, a tour, and a cask-strength bottle you make yourself to take home.
- The west coast by car
- Four hours out to the west coast with your own driver, collected from the door and brought back to it.
- Breakfast in
- A breakfast pantry stocked in the apartment before you arrive, if you ask ahead.
The apartments are at 12 George IV Bridge, in Edinburgh’s Old Town, close to the Royal Mile. Victoria Street is a two-minute walk, Edinburgh Waverley station eight minutes and Edinburgh Castle twelve. There’s no parking at the building; the closest car park is Q-Park Quartermile, and Moment suggests booking a space ahead.
The OutsiderSeasonal cooking above Victoria Street, with windows at the back that look straight across to the castle. A local favourite, Moment says.Next door On George IV Bridge

Scotland, in print.
We want to show you the best that Scotland has to offer. The makers and the creatives, the enduring experiences, the evocative tales, the concealed corners. The roads less travelled that take you to places that matter. The adventures that gather you up and sweep you away. The blend of the wild and the artistic that makes Scotland what it is. We’d love for you to join us.
