Foxlake – FoxFall, a Ropes Course Over the Water
A few hours.
The route
FoxFall at Foxlake, in the woods west of Dunbar, is a low ropes course strung over a lake with no harness at all, just the water waiting below if you wobble.
Work across the spider's web, the Burma bridge and the sliding fenders, then finish with a big splash off the double zip line. Children from six can do it, and so can any grown-up who doesn't mind getting wet.

Foxlake Adventures
Foxlake is off the A199 about half a mile from the Beltonford roundabout, west of Dunbar, signed in brown. Its car park is free, and the gates are locked overnight; blue badge holders use the emergency access road to the left of the main car park. In the autumn opening from 31 August, FoxFall runs Thursday to Sunday. From 26 October Foxlake's winter opening is sauna and wakeboarding only, so FoxFall stops until the warmer months; its site posts the next season. A session lasts 50 minutes and costs £23.50 a head at the time of writing, with a wetsuit and safety kit included. Bring closed-toe shoes you don't mind soaking, and a padlock if you want a locker. Arrive 30 minutes early with the terms signed online. Everyone must be at least 6, at least 1.2 m tall and no more than 120 kg, and able to swim 25 metres unaided. Children of 16 and under need an adult with them, on the course or on land, and watching is free from the path round the lake. Up to 30 people share a session. Groups of up to nine can cancel or change for a full refund up to 48 hours before. Under-6s have a free play park, and Jay Bird's Larder, a separate café, is on site.
If it rains
You get wet anyway, and the wetsuit is included; on a cold day bring warm clothes and a towel for afterwards.
