Glasgow is a brilliant starting point for days out, and you don't have to go far to feel a world away. Loch Lomond's bonnie banks are under an hour up the road, the ferries to Arran and Bute leave from the coast to the west, and the Trossachs, with their lochs and woodland walks, are an easy drive north. Closer to home, the city's own galleries, parks and neighbourhoods could fill a day all by themselves.
Each day is worked out stop by stop, with the drive or the train between each place, where to eat, and what to book before you go. Many are easy without a car, as trains run from the city to the coast and the lochs. Pick a day by what you're in the mood for, whether that's a hill, an island, a castle or a long lunch, and we'll show you the way.
