The Clydeside Distillery – A Whisky Tour and Lunch at Gloriosa
A day, from Glasgow Central station to Kelvinhall Subway station.
The route
The Clydeside Distillery makes single malt whisky at the old Queen's Dock, where ships once loaded whisky bound for every continent.
A walk along the river leads to its tour and tasting, and lunch is a short stroll on at Gloriosa. The whole day is on foot.

The day
Glasgow
A day on foot by the river, from the middle of the city to a distillery in a Victorian dock building, with three drams to taste and a long lunch to follow.

The Clydeside Distillery
A tour
The walk follows the Clyde. The distillery opened in 2017 in the Pumphouse of 1877, which once powered the dock's swing bridge. The Clydeside Tour starts in the Dockside Story, on the history of whisky and the Clyde in film and animation; a guide then leads the way through the distillery to three drams in the Tasting Room. Children are offered Irn Bru, and designated drivers take their drams away. Assistance dogs are welcome, and a lift to the first floor is there for anyone who prefers it.
About 11 min on foot

Gloriosa
Lunch
Gloriosa is half a mile north-east, on Argyle Street near Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum: a bright, open restaurant and bar cooking Mediterranean food, with wines from small makers across Europe. The menu is for sharing family style and changes with the seasons. Dogs are welcome (with one, ask for a table in the bar area), and a high chair can be asked for when booking. Kelvinhall Subway station is half a mile north-west for the way back; the Subway runs until 11.40pm Monday to Saturday and 6.12pm on Sundays.
If it rains
The tour and lunch are both under a roof. On a wet day, a taxi to the distillery saves the walk by the river.
