Bowhouse market weekend and lunch in the courtyard

Bowhouse Market – Local Makers, Street Food and Beer

A few hours.

The route

Bowhouse is an old stone farm steading in the East Neuk, turned into a home for small food producers, and once a month its market weekend brings food and drink makers from across Scotland under one roof.

Come hungry: there's street food in the courtyard, a café, a butchery, flour and vegetables to take home, and Futtle's organic farmhouse beers. It's a good weekend to stock the cupboards.

    A shop

Bowhouse is on the A917 between St Monans and Elie, with ample parking on site. Buses 95 and X60 stop in St Monans nearby (check the times). The market is on the second full weekend of every month except January, from 10am to 4pm on the Saturday and the Sunday, and it's free to get in. Wander the stalls in the main hall, meet the makers and catch a cooking demonstration. Bowhouse's own producers are open too: the butchery, Futtle's brewery and bar, with its organic farmhouse beers, and the farm's own growers of flour, flowers and vegetables. Dogs can't go into the main market hall, but they're welcome in the courtyard, the street food shed and Futtle.

  2. The courtyard street food

    Lunch

Lunch is in the courtyard just outside the main hall: pick from the street food stalls, open on the market weekend from 10am to 4pm on the Saturday and the Sunday. Dogs are welcome in the courtyard and the street food shed. There's nothing to book. If you'd rather sit down, Bàern Café is on the site too and opens Thursday to Sunday, 10am to 4pm.

If it rains

The market's stalls are in the main hall and Bàern Café is indoors, so a wet day only means a dash across the courtyard for the street food; Futtle's bar is indoors too.
