Maybell Cottage is a house from 1590 in Pittenweem, set in an established walled garden just off the High Street and a minute from the harbour.

The American architect Thomas H Blurock restored it, and the cosy open-plan inside has a Bulthaup kitchen with Miele appliances and what the owners call an incredible cooking fireplace, a dream for anyone who loves to cook. The furniture is classic modern, by Saarinen, Wegner and Arne Jacobsen, and the bed is a Savoir. The house runs over three floors for two, with a cinema room in the basement. Out in the garden, full of seasonal flowers and fruit trees, there’s a patio for your morning coffee.

Maybell Cottage is just off the High Street in Pittenweem, a fishing village on the East Neuk of Fife, and the harbour is a minute’s walk away.

The owners put the East Neuk coastline within minutes, and the Fife Coastal Path runs through the village.
