The Dory, Pittenweem

A seafood bistro and art gallery on the harbour at Pittenweem, serving shellfish landed a few steps from the door among the paintings of Malcolm Cheape.

Pittenweem is one of the most important shellfish harbours in Scotland, and on its shore the Dory makes the most of it.

Lobsters, langoustines and crabs are landed less than forty metres from the door, and fish comes from the boats of Pittenweem and St Monans.

It is a bistro and an art gallery in one. The walls are hung with paintings, many of them by Malcolm Cheape, one of the owners, a Scottish painter known for his detailed pictures of working ships, alongside the work of other artists from around Scotland.

The kitchen cooks with Fife produce: game from local estates, vegetables and fruit from East Neuk growers, salt from St Monans, and herbs, salads and fruit from the Dory's own kitchen garden, which grows a little every year. It has been running since 2018 and serves lunch and dinner from Wednesday to Sunday.
