Welcome

Fish and chips by the harbour is one of the joys of the East Neuk, and The Wee Chippy has been frying them on Anstruther's Shore Street since 1999.

It's a family business, with a restaurant and a takeaway in an old building that has been a masonic lodge, a bakery and a café in its time, and was rebuilt by local tradesmen before reopening in 2019. The fish is fresh Scottish fish from a local merchant, mostly haddock, with cod and salmon on the specials, fried to order in beef dripping in the shop's own batter. There's a gluten-free menu every day, cooked in separate fryers. Eat in and your meal comes with bread and butter and a hot drink, or take it away and sit out by the water. Dogs are welcome inside and out, there's a kids' menu, and it's open every day from 11.30am, with the restaurant serving until 9pm.
