Welcome

Crail is one of the prettiest villages in the East Neuk, and The Shoregate gives it a restaurant to match.

It's an inn in the middle of the village, in an 18th-century building that has been a hotel since around 1890, and it reopened in 2022 after a restoration that took two and a half years. There are two sides to it: a bright, modern dining room at the front, and a traditional bar at the back in the old smokehouse, with stone walls, pews from an old chapel and a real fire. Head chef Craig McAllister cooks a seasonal menu from East Neuk produce and changes a dish or two every month, and The Shoregate is in the Michelin Guide. Children are welcome everywhere, and dogs are welcome in the bar. It's open from Wednesday to Sunday for lunch and dinner, with four lovely bedrooms upstairs, and the 95 bus stops right outside the door.
