St Monans Auld Kirk
An attraction
There is a parking area beside the kirk on Burnside. It's a low, solid church under a stout tower, on the coastal path with the sea beside it. David II gave funds for a new church here in the 1320s, in thanks for surviving a shipwreck in the Firth of Forth, and it was rebuilt in the 1820s. In 1981 Johnny Cash was filmed here singing Christmas carols with local schoolchildren. The village has owned the kirk since December 2025; for a visit inside, ask the kirk at info@stmonansauldkirk.com.

Lunch
Craig Millar @ 16 West End is a short walk from the kirk, by the harbour. Lunch is a set menu of three or four courses; the menu follows the seasons and uses local produce, and most tables have a window view. Mention any dietary needs when booking. On West Shore, the Welly Boot Garden has some 200 pairs of wellies decorating its old slipway every summer.
If it rains
Lunch is indoors; the kirk is under a roof only on its open days, so on a wet day keep the kirkyard short.
