A few hours.
The route
Dundee Science Centre, by the railway station in the middle of the city, is made for a rainy day with children.
Its exhibitions are hands-on from end to end. It's step-free, with a lift between floors, and its Café Create does lunch.

Dundee Science Centre
Dundee Science Centre is on Greenmarket, between Riverside Drive and the Nethergate, with two pay-and-display car parks beside it, run by the council at city-centre rates. It's open every day from 10am to 4pm. Entry is by timed ticket, best booked online ahead; each ticket gives two and a half hours on the exhibition floor, and the latest suggested arrival is 1.30pm. The exhibitions are hands-on throughout. Children under 16 must be with a paying adult, and ticket prices are on the centre's booking page. Café Create, open every day from 9am to 4pm, does hot and cold food and drinks, and picnics are welcome too. The centre is step-free, with a lift between the ground and first floors and a Changing Places toilet. Pets aren't allowed inside, though registered assistance dogs are. Over Christmas and New Year, check before going.
If it rains
It's all indoors: the only wet part is the walk from the car park.
