Heather Street Food is a little white horsebox van parked on the waterfront outside V&A Dundee, with the museum's great ribbed walls rising behind it, and it is the obvious place for a coffee and something sweet on a walk along the river.

It belongs to a Dundee business that roasts its own coffee, and it has won awards for it.

The menu board above the hatch keeps it simple: hot fresh doughnuts, rolled in sugar and handed over warm in a paper tray, bagels and coffee, to take away and eat by the river or sit on the wooden crates beside the van. It is an easy stop between the V&A, RRS Discovery and the Slessor Gardens, and a good way to warm up on a breezy day on the Tay. The same business runs other street food vans around the city in summer. Opening times change with the weather and the season, so look out for the van on the esplanade.
