Welcome

There's nothing quite like an hour spent flicking through record racks, and Assai's shop on Union Street is the place to do it in Dundee.

It's one of four Assai record shops in Scotland, with the others in Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow, and it's a bright, easy room of wooden floors and crates, with the vinyl sorted by genre round the walls. Alongside the records you'll find CDs and cassettes, Pro-Ject turntables and speakers, slipmats and cleaning kits, little books on classic albums, and T-shirts and hoodies. Look out for Assai's own Obi editions, limited pressings wrapped in a Japanese-style paper strip, and for signed copies, and keep an eye on its events, when artists drop in for signings and album nights. It's a few minutes' walk up from the waterfront and the V&A, and it's open every day of the week, so it's an easy one to fit into a day in the city.
