Biggar Puppet Theatre – Pips and Panda and a Tearoom
A few hours.
The route
Biggar Puppet Theatre is the home of Purves Puppets, a tiny, jewel-box theatre with a red-curtained stage on the edge of Biggar.
Its gentle, sing-along Pips and Panda shows are made for children up to seven, and at Christmas Santa and Rudolph join in. It's a good wet afternoon for little ones, with a tearoom and a playpark in the garden.

Biggar Puppet Theatre
Biggar Puppet Theatre sits in its own gardens on the edge of Biggar, with level access from its car park. Shows run on set dates rather than every day, so choose one on the theatre's booking page and book ahead. Pips and Panda, gentle sing-along stories for children up to seven, play in October. Their Christmas show, Pips and Panda at the North Pole, with Santa and Rudolph, runs from mid-November to 28 December. Cinderella, for children from five, is on some Saturdays and at the end of December. Shows begin at 10.45am, 11am, 1.30pm or 2.15pm depending on the day, and each is booked for an hour and a half. The theatre has a painted ceiling and a red-curtained stage, and there's a playpark in the garden. The conservatory tearoom seats 80, and it helps to email a food order ahead so it's ready when you arrive. There's a ramp into the tearoom, level access into the theatre by arrangement, and an accessible toilet. Ring 01899 220631 a week ahead with any access needs, and arrive 10 minutes early. Only assistance dogs are allowed.
If it rains
The theatre and the tearoom are both indoors; only the playpark is out in it.
