Heads of Ayr Farm Park – Animals by the Sea

A few hours.

The route

Heads of Ayr Farm Park sits on the coast road south of Ayr, and it's a big, cheerful day out for young families.

There are farmyard animals to feed and Highland cows to meet, along with llamas, camels, lemurs, meerkats, wallabies and a pair of zebras, and an indoor barn for the smaller creatures. It fills a whole day, with lunch on site.

About five hours

  1. Heads of Ayr Farm Park

    Heads of Ayr Farm Park

Heads of Ayr Farm Park is on Dunure Road, the A719, south of Alloway, postcode KA7 4LD, with free parking on site. It opens every day from 10am to 5pm, with last admission at 4pm, from 21 March to 1 November. Tickets are cheaper online than at the gate, from £16.50 at the time of writing. Children can feed the farmyard animals and meet the Highland cows, and there are llamas, goats, camels, wallabies, lemurs, meerkats and two zebras, with an indoor barn of small animals and reptiles, and keeper talks every day. The babies arrive from March to June. In October there's a pumpkin patch, included in the ticket, from 10 to 25 October. Lunch is on the farm, at the Stonehouse Kitchen or the Stables Coffee Bar, or bring a picnic. Only assistance dogs are allowed. The 361 bus stops at the gate.

If it rains

Much of the park is outdoors, but the Little Critters barn and the cafés are under cover. Bring waterproofs and wellies.
