Cairn O'Mohr – Fruit Wines, a Winery Tour and Lunch
A few hours.
The route
Cairn O'Mohr is a wonderfully odd little winery in the fruit fields of the Carse of Gowrie, making wine from Scottish berries, flowers and even oak leaves rather than grapes.
Its yard is full of carved faces and timber towers, and its café, the Pickled Peacock, has bright colours and velvet sofas. Lunch there and a tour with a tasting make a fun, easy afternoon.

An attraction
After lunch, the tour is at 2.15pm on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays, and at 12.30pm too on Saturdays, from April to October. It takes about an hour and a half, from berry to bottle, and ends with a tutored tasting of the wines, sparkling wines and ciders. It's £10 a person at the time of writing, booked online, and the whole tour is accessible by wheelchair. Check in at the winery shop five to ten minutes before it starts. Whoever is driving should skip the tasting glasses and take a bottle home for later; the shop sells non-alcoholic drinks too.
If it rains
Lunch and most of the tour are under a roof; only the walk round the yard between the buildings is out in the rain.
