The Bow Bar
A small whisky and real ale bar on Victoria Street in the Old Town, in a tenement of 1863, named Best Pub in Scotland at the Scottish Hospitality Awards in 2024.
There's something about a small Old Town bar with a gantry full of whisky, and The Bow Bar, at 80 West Bow on Victoria Street, is one of the best in Scotland.
It sits on the ground floor of a tenement of 1863, behind a deep blue front with its name in gold. In 2024 it was named Best Pub in Scotland at the Scottish Hospitality Awards, and it has won Best Bar in Scotland there three times, as well as Best Whisky Bar in Scotland at the Wee Dram Awards. Beer lovers will like it too: it calls itself the last bar dedicated to pouring through air-pressure tall fonts, with house cask ales from Cromarty, Cross Borders and Stewart and four guest lines. At lunchtime there are hot pies. Dogs are welcome, and so are other friendly pets. It's open every day from noon until midnight, and there's no booking, so just come in.
