From Saturday the 6th to Sunday the 14th of September 2025, Fife plays host to its inaugural Seaweed Fest—an eight-day festival spread across coastal towns like Anstruther, St Andrews, and Methilhill. At the heart is Rising Tide, a seaweed-inspired art exhibition at the Scottish Fisheries Museum in Anstruther, running throughout September. The programme broadens out into guided foraging walks, seaweed tasting sessions, craft and composting workshops, evening films with Q&A, and menus featuring seaweed-forward dishes in local cafés. Events are designed to be inclusive—some are free or subsidised—with the aim of familiarising people with seaweed’s ecological importance and creative potential.
