Craigtoun Country Park

A 47-acre country park two miles from St Andrews, with a Dutch Village on its lake, gardens, a miniature railway and play for all ages, free to enter.

Craigtoun is a 47-acre country park two miles from St Andrews, run by a local charity and free to enter and park.

It is the old garden of a private estate, with a Cypress Avenue, an Italian Garden, a Walled Garden and the Fairy Glen, and out on the lake stands the Dutch Village, a little island village of white walls and red roofs designed by the architect Paul Waterhouse.

From spring to October the paid attractions run at weekends and every day in the school holidays: the Rio Grande miniature railway, the Puffin' Billy tractor rides, crazy golf, go-karts, pedal cars and the boating lake. The playgrounds, trampolines and zip wire are free all year, and the café is open daily from 10am. Dogs are welcome, on a lead around the children's play area.

Before you go

The park is open at any time, and entry and parking are free.

The paid attractions run in the season and the café opens daily from 10am.

Craigtoun Country Park, St Andrews KY16 8NX, two miles from the town.
Open
The park is open 24 hours a day. The seasonal paid attractions run 11am to 3pm in March, September and October and 10.30am to 5pm from April to August, on the dates listed on the park's opening hours page; the last dates of 2026 are daily from 10 to 25 October. The café is open daily from 10am to 4pm, or to 5pm on days the attractions run until 5pm.
Price
Entry and parking are free. In 2026 rides are £2.50 each, or a day band for all the attractions is £11.50 (£8.50 in September and October), with children under 3 free.
Booking
No booking: ride tickets and day bands are bought from the Ticket Office on the day. Annual passes can be bought online.
Parking
A large free car park with disabled bays, and an overflow area in the park on busy days. Donations are welcome at the boxes on the main gate.
Getting there
From the B939 follow the signs for Craigtoun on Brownrigg Road and turn in at The Craigtoun Course. The park says the Moffat & Williamson No. 64 bus between St Andrews and Glenrothes stops by Craigtoun Meadows Caravan Park, about a 15 minute walk uphill from the park.
Dogs
Welcome in the park and well-behaved dogs in the café, kept under control and on a lead around the children's play area.
Access
A tarmac path with no significant inclines runs from the car park to the café, Ticket Office and toilets, and there are disabled toilets, a Changing Places facility and an accessible play area. A wheelchair (£5) and a mobility scooter (£10) can be hired for the day on 01334 472013.
Food
The Craigtoun Café serves food, cakes and ice cream. There are picnic areas, and barbecue stands near the Adventure Playground.
