Welcome

There's something special about dinner a short walk from the Old Course, and Haar is one of the best places in St Andrews for it.

Dean Banks, who grew up in Arbroath and reached the final of MasterChef: The Professionals in 2018, opened it in 2019, and since late 2022 it has had its own home on Golf Place, just fifty metres from the course. The name is the cold sea fog that rolls in off the North Sea, and the cooking is built on Scottish seafood and local produce, with flavours he has picked up in more than forty countries. The tasting menu is served at both lunch and dinner and changes with the seasons. Haar holds four AA Rosettes and is in the Michelin Guide, and there are six stylish rooms upstairs if you'd like to make a night of it. It opens on Wednesday evenings and for lunch and dinner from Thursday to Sunday, so book ahead through its website.
