Welcome

For a special dinner in St Andrews, it's hard to beat a table on the fourth floor of the Old Course Hotel.

The Road Hole Restaurant looks straight out over the famous 17th hole of the Old Course, often called the hardest hole in golf, with the West Sands and the sea stretching away beyond it. The menu follows the Scottish seasons, with West Coast scallop carpaccio, Peterhead cod, Borders lamb and butter-poached lobster, and a porterhouse to share if you're celebrating. Come dressed up for the occasion or straight from the course, as both are made welcome. Afternoon tea is served in the same room, with sandwiches, scones and patisserie and a choice of tea or Champagne, and it's a lovely way to see the view in daylight. Dinner is served every evening from 6pm to 9pm. The restaurant is reached by the hotel's main lifts, and there's an accessible toilet on the same floor.
