A private barbecue hut on top of Lindores Hill, above Newburgh, hired by one group at a time for a lunch cooked over fire, with views over the Tay.

High on Lindores Hill, above the little town of Newburgh, a timber hut with a pointed roof looks out over one of the finest views in Fife: the wide silver Tay and the hills of Perthshire and Angus beyond.

This is the Hide, and it is yours alone for the afternoon.

One group at a time, from two people to ten, is driven up from the farm in a Land Rover and left with everything needed: firewood, ice, glasses and a fire already crackling. You can bring your own food and cook it on the grill, or be looked after by a private chef and sommelier with a five course menu, perhaps of lamb raised on the farm below.

The barley grown on this farm goes into the whisky at Lindores Abbey Distillery nearby, and the distillery can match drams and wines to the meal. There is a long table outside for fine days, and the hut is open all year.
