Cairnie Fruit Farm
A family fruit farm outside Cupar with pick-your-own in summer, a six-acre maize maze from mid-July, a pumpkin patch in October and a cafe known for its baking.
Cairnie Fruit Farm, in the Fife countryside just west of Cupar, is one of the great family days out of the summer.
The family has grown fruit here for over 55 years, and the farm calls itself the original pick-your-own farm in Scotland. Through the summer you can pick strawberries, raspberries, currants, gooseberries, cherries and brambles, with a small pass booked online and the fruit paid for by weight. From mid-July the Mega Maze opens, six acres of maize cut to a new design every year, and the Funyard is packed with outdoor adventures for children from March. October brings the pumpkin patch, with over 20,000 pumpkins and booked morning or afternoon slots. The cafe bakes everything on the premises, from scones and shortbread to its strawberry Mega Tarts. Dogs on a lead are welcome, though not in the picking fields, the Funyard or the cafe. It's open every day from ten until half past four, from March to the end of October.

Book Funyard, maze, picking and pumpkin passes online before you go; the cafe takes no bookings.
