Introduction
The oldest tennis court in the world is found at Falkland Palace, where the roofless space has been used to play the sport as far back as the 1500s. It gets its royal adage from its commissioner, King James IV, who played ‘royal tennis’ with his family on the court, a slightly altered version of the modern game.
