The Harbourmaster's House

An 18th-century house on the harbour at Dysart, home of the Fife Coast and Countryside Trust, with a cafe looking over the boats.

Welcome

On the harbour at Dysart, beside the boats, stands a handsome stone house of the 1700s, once the home of the harbourmaster who kept watch over the ships coming in to trade.

Today it is the home of the Fife Coast and Countryside Trust, which looks after the Fife Coastal Path and the beaches of Fife.

The ground floor is a friendly cafe, with windows over the harbour and a menu of simple, freshly made food, and it is a good stop for walkers on the coastal path. Upstairs, reached by a lift, the Trust's office sells maps, books and gifts for the Fife Coastal Path and the Fife Pilgrim Way. Dogs are welcome, and there is a free car park at the harbour.

With its old stone buildings and sheltered harbour, this corner of Dysart has even appeared on screen, in the television series Outlander. The cafe opens from spring to autumn, every day except Wednesday.
