Macauley's

An award-winning greengrocer on Burntisland High Street, inspired by the Rialto Market in Venice, with fresh and organic produce and a larder of good things.

Welcome

Macauley's began with a holiday.

Its owner, Ross, came home from Venice in love with the Rialto Market and decided to change career and bring a little of its magic back to Fife. In 2015 he opened a greengrocer on the High Street in Burntisland, and it has won awards since.

Fresh fruit and vegetables come in every day from Scotland's fruit market, from local farms and growers and from organic suppliers, and they are sold loose, in paper bags and boxes rather than plastic, so you can buy exactly as much as you need. Around them are shelves of good things from small makers: dried chillies, curry pastes, oils, pasta, spices and the shop's own jams.

Burntisland's High Street is a fine one for food, with a fishmonger, a butcher and a sourdough bakery close by, and Macauley's is part of it. It opens from Monday to Saturday.

We want to show you the best that Scotland has to offer. The makers and the creatives, the enduring experiences, the evocative tales, the concealed corners. The roads less travelled that take you to places that matter. The adventures that gather you up and sweep you away. The blend of the wild and the artistic that makes Scotland what it is. We’d love for you to join us.
