On the High Street in Burntisland, the little seaside town on the Fife shore of the Forth, Bel and Etta is an independent shop full of things chosen to give or to keep.

Visitors call it a lovely place for a browse after a walk on the beach, which is just a few minutes away.

There is something for almost everyone. The shelves carry tableware and kitchen things, vases, candles and diffusers, lamps, cushions and pictures for the home, along with jewellery, scarves, bags and cards for every occasion. There are clothes for women, outfits for children and a good stock of soft Jellycat toys, which makes it a favourite for baby presents.

The welcome is warm and the service helpful, and it opens every day of the week, from noon on Sundays, which is handy for a weekend by the sea.
