Norah
A café and restaurant on Pier Place in Newhaven, from Irish-born chef Claire Hanrahan, with breakfast and lunch from Thursday to Monday and dinner on Friday nights.
There's something special about breakfast by the harbour, and Norah in Newhaven does it beautifully.
It's the first restaurant of its own from Irish-born chef Claire Hanrahan, named after Norah Hanrahan of County Mayo, and it sits on Pier Place by the old harbour. The menu changes with the seasons and leans on local suppliers. Breakfast might be porridge, kippers on buttered toast, or a morning plate of soda bread, a boiled egg, Irish cheese and pickles, and the pork sausage, egg and chips is a favourite at any hour. Lunch brings small plates and dishes like meatballs with lentils and salsa verde or roast cod with aioli, with wine and Newbarns beer, and puddings like soda bread ice cream. You can buy a loaf of soda bread to take home. It's open from Thursday to Monday, from half past eight until four, walk-in only by day, and on Friday nights there's a dinner you can book. The tram from the city stops close by.

Breakfast and lunch from Thursday to Monday, walk-in only.
Dinner on Friday nights is booked through its own site.
