Brown's of Leith
A food hall in the old George Brown & Sons engineering works on the Shore at Leith, with Haze, Asu, ShrimpWreck's Shuck Bar and Civerinos inside.
Brown's of Leith fills the old George Brown & Sons engineering works on the Shore, where the firm worked for 130 years before moving to East Lothian in 2024.
The Custom Lane team opened it in November 2025 as a home for food, drink and the arts, and the great industrial hall, with its high timber roof, steel tables and tall windows, is a lovely place to while away an afternoon. Haze, from the makers of Timberyard and Montrose, runs the all-day bar and counter, with coffee, small plates, wine and spirits. Around it, Asu brings Asian-influenced cooking from the team behind Five March in Glasgow, the Shuck Bar from ShrimpWreck serves Scottish oysters and local seafood, and Civerinos bakes New Haven-style pizza. There is a whisky studio here too, and makers have their workshops upstairs. It's open from Thursday to Sunday, 9am to 10pm, dogs are welcome, and tables for fewer than eight are walk-in only.
