Welcome

Chez means at the home of, and Chez Bernard is named after Jonathan's grandfather, Bernard, and the summers spent with him in France around long tables of good food and wine.

Those memories shaped this French wine bar and bistro on the Shore at Leith, a warm, relaxed room made for taking your time. There are more than ninety wines, 26 of them by the glass, from a £5 Ardèche Merlot Syrah to Champagne, and the house red, white and rosé come by the carafe too. To eat, there are croques and galettes, French onion soup, oysters with shallot vinegar, dressed crab and planchettes of cheese and charcuterie, and raclette melted at your table for two or more. On weekday lunchtimes every plat chaud is £8 with a dressed salad. It's open every day from noon until late, and dogs are very welcome, with a little menu of their own.
