Fishers in Leith
A seafood restaurant at the foot of a seventeenth-century stone watchtower on the Shore at Leith, the original Fishers, open since 1991.
Fishers has been serving seafood on the Shore at Leith since 1991, from the foot of a seventeenth-century stone watchtower at the corner of Tower Street.
It's the original of the Fishers restaurants, and it has been a favourite in the city for more than three decades. Inside there are two rooms to choose from, a cosy round one by the bar and the main restaurant, and when the sun is out there's a table outside by the water. The menu changes daily: Loch Creran oysters, Shetland mussels, whole lemon sole and East Coast lobster, alongside Aberdeen Angus steaks and good dishes for anyone who doesn't eat fish. From Monday to Friday there's a set lunch until five, at £25 for two courses or £30 for three, and a hot shellfish platter can be ordered a day ahead. The kitchen is open every day from noon, and walk-ins are welcome, though it's wise to book for an evening.
