On Constitution Street in Leith, a Victorian bar front painted deep teal, with curving ironwork, stained-glass windows and a round sign hanging above the pavement, belongs to Nobles, one of the handsomest bars in Leith.

Today it is run by Bellfield Brewery, one of Edinburgh's own brewers, as a stylish neighbourhood bar.

The full range of Bellfield's award-winning beers is poured here, in keg and cask, alongside coffee from local roasters for the daytime. The kitchen serves food until nine each evening it is open, from pub favourites such as fish and chips to plates made for sharing, and in fine weather there are tables out on the pavement beneath the ironwork canopy.

Nobles opens from Wednesday to Sunday, from the afternoon midweek and from lunchtime at the weekend, a few minutes' walk from the Shore, with the trams running along Constitution Street outside.
