Malt & Hops
A single-room, old-fashioned pub on the Shore in Leith, by the Water of Leith, with a real fire and real ales from small breweries chalked on the mirror.
There's something about an old pub with a real fire on a cold day, and Malt & Hops, on the Shore in Leith by the Water of Leith, is one of the cosiest.
It's a single-room, old-fashioned bar, its walls covered in mirrors, prints and old beer memorabilia, and it's as popular with locals as it is with visitors. Real ale is the thing here: the beers on offer are written up on the mirror behind the bar, with plenty from smaller breweries, and there's a good shelf of whisky too. There are tables out on the pavement when the weather allows. Dogs are welcome, and there's no booking, so just come in. It's open every day from noon, until 11pm early in the week, midnight from Wednesday, and 1am on Friday and Saturday.
