This hands-on workshop at The Barn offers the opportunity to learn Scottish woodcarving traditions by making a Highland cup. Led by Thomas Banks, known as Wooden Tom, participants are guided in the safe use of hand tools including the Swedish sloyd knife to carve a functional wooden cup from fresh timber. After shaping, there is the option to finish the cup with chalk paint or leave it natural. Tom, a Cairngorms-based greenwood worker, specialises in carving cups and traditional utensils. Suitable for ages 16 and over. .
