Sebastian Lord and Richard Parfitt opened Maggie's Grill in 2014 with a simple idea: the smoke and spice of American barbecue and Cajun cooking, made with the best meat and produce from the north-east of Scotland.

More than ten years on, the restaurant has moved into a big new home in Marischal Square, opposite Marischal College.

Its windows promise food from field to fork, made with soul, and a New Orleans street sign hangs by the door. Inside, jazz posters line the walls. The kitchen smokes, grills and fries: sticky racks of ribs, pulled pork burgers, Cajun specials, loaded nachos and poutine, with local beer to wash them down. The meat comes from local butchers and farmers, and the bread from local bakers.

It opens every day from noon until late, and from 4pm on Monday.
