Mackie's ice cream is made on a family farm in Aberdeenshire, and it is a taste of home for anyone from the north-east.

In 2017 the family opened their own parlour in the city, and they named it for the distance from the farm to the door: 19.2 miles.

It stands in the courtyard of Marischal Square, opposite the granite front of Marischal College and beside Andy Scott's great steel leopard. Inside, under blue and white walls, a long curved counter holds more than thirty flavours, from strawberry, butterscotch and mint chocolate chip to Eton mess, caffè latte and even an Irn Bru sorbet, many of them made by hand.

They come in cones and tubs, in milkshakes, in towering sundaes with cream and marshmallows, and on fresh waffles and crêpes. The parlour was given a fresh new look in 2026, and it opens every day from lunchtime into the evening.
