The Pig's Wings takes street food and gives it a table.

On Upperkirkgate, behind a dark front with a neon pig and benches painted in bright colours, it is a small, loud, cheerful restaurant with an open kitchen, street art on the walls and old brickwork.

The menu is built for sharing and for being hungry. Loaded fries come piled with every kind of topping, from Philly cheesesteak to pulled meats and sauces; the burgers are big and messy; the wings are tossed in sticky sauces; and there are tacos and small plates. Steak is the surprise best-seller, served with a street-food swagger, and there are plenty of choices for vegans and vegetarians. The bar shakes cocktails to match.

It is a fun place for a group or a casual night out. It opens every day except Tuesday, and it is wise to book at the weekend.
