On the weekend of the 6th and 7th of September 2025, the Chippendale International School of Furniture invites newcomers to experience woodturning in its East Lothian workshops. Under the guidance of Adam Stone, the school’s woodturning specialist, participants learn lathe operation and core techniques like turning tenons, shaping tapered legs, and sanding to finish. Each student crafts a functional piece—a stool or plant stand with a turned wooden top—spanning the weekend in small, supportive classes. Designed as an accessible entry to woodworking, the course is practical, scaled to build confidence, and leaves learners with both skills and a finished creation they can take home.
