Behind a pale shopfront on North Berwick's High Street, the Grange is a restaurant and steakhouse that many visitors and locals come back to again and again.

It is warm and busy, with good service and a menu long enough to please everyone at the table.

The steaks are the draw. There is plenty besides, from seafood platters of prawns and squid to burgers, all in generous portions, with a good choice of whisky to finish. The kitchen takes care with allergies too.

It opens in the evenings from Tuesday to Saturday, from late afternoon on Saturdays, and it is often full, so booking is a good idea. Afterwards, a walk down to the harbour to watch the light fade over the Forth rounds off the evening.
