North Berwick is a town of dog walkers, with long beaches and a hill to climb, and on its High Street Barker and Bone is the shop that looks after them.

You will know it by the whitewashed front with its name above the windows and the hanging sign in the shape of a terrier.

Inside there are shelves of good food for dogs and cats, baskets of natural chews and treats, and racks of toys, leads and harnesses. The team know their stuff, and visitors write of the kind help they gave in finding a new harness for a dog on holiday.

It is a handy stop if you are here with a dog and have forgotten something, or want a treat for them after a run on the sands. The shop opens every day.
