The Herringbone
A lively bar and restaurant on Westgate in North Berwick, with local and seasonal cooking, craft beers, wines and cocktails.
At the west end of North Berwick's High Street, behind a pale green front with tall arched windows, the Herringbone is one of the liveliest places in town.
On a busy evening the window tables are full and there is a real buzz about the place, and visitors often find themselves coming back more than once in a short stay.
The menu leans on local and seasonal food, with plenty from the sea: fish chowder, fish and chips with crushed peas, and lighter plates such as halloumi salads, as well as burgers and sticky toffee pudding. The bar has plenty of wines, beers and cocktails.
The staff are friendly and attentive, and people eating alone are made just as welcome as groups. It opens every day from lunchtime, and from breakfast at the weekend, until late.
