On North Berwick's High Street, Zanzibar is a cosy coffee shop that dogs and their owners love.

It is simple and relaxed inside, with teal chairs, marble-topped tables, a counter of cakes and a chalkboard menu, and a big window onto the street.

It opens early, so it is a good place to start the day with a coffee and a bacon and egg roll before a walk on the beach, or to stop in the afternoon for a slice of cake, a cupcake or a cappuccino dusted with cocoa. There are light breakfasts and lunches too, such as omelettes with salad.

Dogs are welcome, and holidaymakers in the town make it a regular stop. It opens every day of the week, from a quarter past eight in the morning until mid-afternoon.
