A long, quiet sweep of sand known as Ravensheugh Sands, reached through the pinewoods of Tyninghame, with the Bass Rock out to sea.

Between North Berwick and Dunbar, down a lane called Limetree Walk from the village of Tyninghame, paths wind through the pinewoods and come out onto one of the finest beaches in the south of Scotland.

Tyninghame Links, also known as Ravensheugh Sands, is a great curve of pale sand backed by grassy dunes, wide and unspoilt.
Out to sea rises the Bass Rock, and the empty bay bends away in both directions. It suits a long walk, a picnic in the dunes or an hour watching the light change over the water. Outlander fans may recognise it from a dramatic scene in the fifth series.
There is a small pay car park at the end of Limetree Walk, where the ticket covers the other coastal car parks that day too, and a walk through the trees to the sand. There are no toilets, so come prepared.
