Argyll and Bute
Stormhouse North
Introduction
Stormhouse North is a modern one-bedroom retreat for two, facing Castle Stalker across Loch Laich. The front is fully glazed, so from morning to evening the view is right there, uninterrupted. The house is clad in cedar, set among birch, and built to make the setting part of the stay.
Inside, a super-king bed is angled to the loch. The kitchen has a long oak island, built-in appliances, and plenty of space to prepare meals. Concrete floors with underfloor heating keep things warm, and a wood stove takes care of the evenings.
The bathroom is finished in the same pared-back style, with a rainfall shower and Sonos audio. Step outside to a private deck where a mosaic-lined hot tub is set low behind glass screens. It stays hot year-round, even in mid-winter.
The house has Wi-Fi, Sky TV, and a sound system running through each space. Parking is at the door, and the nearest pub is within easy walking distance.

Location
Stormhouse North sits in Appin, halfway between Oban and Glencoe. It looks straight across the loch to Castle Stalker. The approach is a narrow lane that climbs quickly, but it’s not long, and parking’s right outside once you’re there. The pub is just down the road on foot. Shops aren’t, so bring basics or plan for a drive of twenty minutes or so. From here you’ve got choices: south for ferries and seafood in Oban, north for the mountains and walking trails of Glencoe.
Good to know
This stay is set up for two adults. Children aren’t allowed, and pets are only possible with prior approval, so always ask before you book. The house usually requires a five-night minimum. You’ll need a car, as the lane up is steep but short. Parking is right outside. Wi-Fi is reliable, though mobile coverage can fade in and out. The hot tub is heated and ready when you arrive, freshly cleaned between stays. Guests get a digital guide with practical notes, local walks, and eating options. The Old Inn is within walking distance; shops are further, about twenty minutes by car.
What's nearby
Castle Stalker is the first thing you’ll notice, straight across the loch. The Old Inn is only a five-minute walk if you fancy a pint or pub food. Port Appin isn’t far either, with its little ferry to Lismore and the seafood restaurant at the Pierhouse. South takes you to Oban in half an hour for shops and ferries to the islands, north to Glencoe for mountains and walks.
