Pier Cottage is a little stone cottage for two on the edge of Loch a’ Choire, the small sea loch that opens onto Loch Linnhe on the Kingairloch Estate near Ardgour.

After a major refurbishment it is a traditional stone cottage with a timber-clad sun room added, laid out in a line: the kitchen and dining area in the middle, the king-size bedroom at one end, with its own bathroom and walk-in shower, and the sun room at the other. The bedroom has a view of the loch and the mountains.

The sitting room has a bare stone wall with a wood-burning stove against it, a deep grey sofa and windows onto the trees, and there’s comfortable outdoor seating and ample parking. Pine martens, otters and red deer are all about, and traffic on the estate road is very light, though the road does pass in front of the cottage and there’s a fish farm base next door. There is no fenced area. The estate’s Boathouse Restaurant is on the same loch, and up to two dogs are welcome.

There's a wood-burning stove and oil-fired radiators, an en-suite with a walk-in shower, a kitchen with an electric oven, hob, microwave and tall fridge freezer, and Wi-Fi, a TV with a DVD player, linen and towels all provided.

Where it is

Pier Cottage is on the shore of Loch a' Choire on the Kingairloch Estate, where the small sea loch opens onto Loch Linnhe on its Morvern side.

The estate is reached by a single-track road along the edge of Loch Linnhe. Strontian is the nearest village, about 13 miles or 30 minutes away, with a post office, fuel and a shop, and Fort William is 25 miles, an hour to an hour and a half including the Corran Ferry.
