Introduction

The Gate Lodge sits within Kingairloch Estate on the west coast of Lochaber, surrounded by mountains and set close to the lochside. Sleeping four in one double bedroom and one twin, it is a family-sized cottage with central heating, underfloor heating downstairs and a wood-burning stove in the living space. The kitchen is fitted for self-catering stays, with an electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer and a tall 50/50 fridge freezer. Outside, the garden is enclosed with iron railing fencing, while ample parking and complimentary WiFi are provided. Up to two pets are welcome, and the estate setting adds much of the appeal, with walking and mountain biking tracks, fishing with a free guest permit, seasonal produce from the Walled Garden and regular chances to see red deer, otters and pine martens.

Location

The Gate Lodge is part of Kingairloch Estate, near Ardgour and Fort William on the west coast of Lochaber. It sits in a lochside estate setting with mountain views and Highland ground around it. Kingairloch is reached by the coastal road through the estate, with Morvern, Ardgour and Lochaline all within reach by car.

Good to know

The Gate Lodge has a Friday changeover. A 50% deposit is taken, with the remaining balance due 28 days before arrival. Up to two pets are welcome. Fuel for the wood-burning stove can be bought from Kingairloch, and coal should not be used. The cottage licence number is HI-41291-F, with EPC rating D.

What's nearby

Kingairloch Estate has 7km of circular tracks for walking and mountain biking, with routes open to guests year-round. Fishing is available with a free permit from the Estate Office, and the Finnish BBQ hut can be hired. The Walled Garden offers seasonal fruit and vegetables, subject to availability, with local trips including Strontian, Lochaline, Ardnamurchan, Mull, Fort William and Glencoe.
