The Coal Shed Café

The Ardtornish estate's own café, opened in 2025 in the estate square at Achranich, three miles from Lochaline in Morvern.

Welcome

The Coal Shed cooks with what the estate around it produces.

The lamb and beef are reared organically on Ardtornish's own farm, the venison is from wild deer on its hills, and some of the produce comes fresh from its Victorian kitchen garden. Expect a menu that follows the seasons, with venison burgers on it alongside vegetarian and vegan dishes. It's open for breakfast and lunch, with home baking in between, so it suits a quick stop as much as a long, lazy lunch. Dogs get a very warm welcome. Before you leave, look in at the Old Dairy gift shop next door for the farm's beef, lamb and venison, and a homemade ready meal for later. It's an easy stop before or after the Mull ferry at Lochaline, and a lovely way to round off a wander through Ardtornish Gardens, a few minutes' walk away.
