Welcome

The Island Sauna Shack is a wood-fired sauna built into a converted horsebox, the first wood-fired sauna on Mull, and it moves around the island's shore so that you can sit in the heat and then walk straight into the sea.

In summer it rotates between four coastal spots: Salen Bay on the east coast, the Aros pier at Tobermory, Fidden beach in the south-west and Calgary Bay in the north-west. In winter it stays between Salen and Tobermory.

It belongs to a new wave of sauna culture in Britain. Its makers mean it as a place without screens, where people gather and take in the shore around them. It is open all year. Sessions are booked online, where you choose your date and your location; the times vary with the place and the season, so check when you book. Bring a towel, and something warm for afterwards.
