Tobermory Distillery stands at the Ledaig end of Tobermory's Main Street, by the main car park, whitewashed and painted with its name and the year it began, 1798: one of the oldest working distilleries in Scotland.

It makes two single malts, Tobermory and the peated, smoky Ledaig, named after the ground it stands on, and a Hebridean gin with a splash of spirit from the whisky stills.

The visitor centre and shop are open every day, from 10am to 5pm, with the whiskies and gins, gifts and branded clothing, and dogs are welcome in the visitor centre. To see how the whisky is made, or to taste it, book one of the distillery experiences, from behind-the-scenes tours to tastings, including a cask-strength tasting in Warehouse 1. Because of the old buildings, visitors to the working site must be 12 or over, and pets cannot come inside the distillery.

The visitor centre and shop are open daily, 10am to 5pm.

Tours and tastings are booked on the distillery's site; visitors to the working site must be 12 or over, and pets cannot go inside the distillery, though dogs are welcome in the visitor centre. It is at the Ledaig car park end of Main Street. Telephone 01688 302647.

CalMac ferry: Oban to Craignure (50 minutes), Lochaline to Fishnish, or Kilchoan to Tobermory.
