Café Fish sits on the upper floor of the CalMac pier building in Tobermory, with views over the bay to Calve Island and the Sound of Mull, and a terrace for watching the sun go down.

It has been open since 2006, run by the cousins Jane Gill and Liz McGougan, who grew up side by side in the fishing village of Tarbert on Loch Fyne.

Its own fishing boat, the Highlander, lands langoustines, lobster and squat lobster every day at 4pm, and local boats bring in monkfish, sole, halibut, haddock, scallops and squid; the oysters and crabs come from Croig, just along the coast, and the mussels from Inverlussa. The fish is served simply grilled with a wedge of lemon, or in the specials that change daily with what the sea brings in, with bread and desserts baked in the kitchen. The Good Food Guide named it the UK's fish restaurant of the year in 2012. Book ahead, and bring cash.

Open for the 2026 season, Monday to Saturday from 4.30pm, serving food until 9.30pm.
